HOCKEY
At
any level of competition, athletes must possess the right physical
tools in order to compete at the next level. Athletes who have the
desire and dedication to excel will greatly benefit from a systematic
performance-training program. At the Performance Institute, our
program not only challenges athletes physically, but also builds
a foundation for success at each level of sport development.
Skating
Treadmill
Our
skating treadmill is one of only a few of its kind in B.C. If you
want to be a more efficient , more powerful, and faster
skater this is the tool for you. Younger skaters work primarily
on technique, while more experienced athletes
develop the many other components of skating listed below.
Performance
Institute’s skating assessment helps athlete’s determine
which areas are their limiting factors and provide direction for
the focus of treadmill training.
- Skating Biomechanics and Efficiency
- Maximal Speed
- Acceleration
- Anaerobic Conditioning
- Stick Handling

Hockey
Specific Strength and Conditioning
The
PI hockey program is designed to prepare athletes for competition,
having the athlete peak at the right time, maximizing physical potential,
building a stronger, more agile, explosive and faster players.
A comprehensive physical assessment of the athlete is first conducted
to assess personal strengths and limitations.
Our speed, agility, explosion and power sessions focus on position
specific movements that enhance the athlete's ability to read and
react powerfully at the highest speed possible. Position players
will develop a stronger, more powerful stride resulting in increased
on-ice speed, while goaltenders will develop increased lateral agility
and overall flexibility.
