Assessment

All Clients who train at the Performance Institute must undergo a personal assessment of strength, flexibility, aerobic and anaeorbic conditioning, power, agility and speed, and nutritional habits. By comparing your individual strengths and weaknesses to the demands of your sport or personal goals, we can then design your training program. After your assessment, we will recommend either personal training or group training to allow you to achieve your goals as quickly and safely as possible.

What the assessment determines:

  • aerobic capacity (cardiovascular capacity and recovery component)
  • body composition (fat mass vs. muscle mass)
  • flexibility and functional range of movement (important for injury prevention)
  • muscular endurance
  • anaerobic power and endurance (Anaerobic Speed Test and Wingate tests)

Why have an assessment performed on you?

  • determine your own strengths and weaknesses relative to your sport and level
  • establish sport specific conditioning program based on those results
  • develop active co-operation between you and your trainer in setting training goals and understanding the focus of your training
  • develop a basis for comparison and improvement necessary for continual training modifications
