Figure
skater Annie Bellemare, a perennial contender at nationals, will
continue to heal her body working with PI conditioning coach, Steve
Ramsbottom. After 10 straight appearances - two at junior and eight
at the senior level - injuries unfortunately caught up with the
25 year old. A sore hip flexor last year developed into a more serious
pulled stomach muscle which ultimately sidelined her from the Canadian
Nationals on Jan 17-23 rd .
Bellemare
said that she did not want to "go to London and finish 10 th . I'll
be back next year. I'm really looking forward to the 2006 Olympics
in Turin , Italy ."
Despite
having and all-round rough year this season, things appear to finally
be looking up for Bellemare. Taking time off skating has allowed
her body much needed healing time. Throughout her re-hab process,
she has been able to maintain on off-ice training regimen with Ramsbottom
three times per week and she is now looking stronger than ever.
