Excerpts from, "Injuries force Bellmare out"

Figure skater Annie Bellemare, a perennial contender at nationals, will continue to heal her body working with PI conditioning coach, Steve Ramsbottom. After 10 straight appearances - two at junior and eight at the senior level - injuries unfortunately caught up with the 25 year old. A sore hip flexor last year developed into a more serious pulled stomach muscle which ultimately sidelined her from the Canadian Nationals on Jan 17-23 rd .

 

Bellemare said that she did not want to "go to London and finish 10 th . I'll be back next year. I'm really looking forward to the 2006 Olympics in Turin , Italy ."

 

Despite having and all-round rough year this season, things appear to finally be looking up for Bellemare. Taking time off skating has allowed her body much needed healing time. Throughout her re-hab process, she has been able to maintain on off-ice training regimen with Ramsbottom three times per week and she is now looking stronger than ever.
