PI Games and Train the Trainer 2012

We are excited to present our 7th annual charity event for the Canadian Cancer Society. Over the years, we have had a tremendous response from our very generous clients and to this date have donated over $40,000. In the past our event was run as Train The Trainer, where our clients were able achieve pay back for the year and run their trainers through grueling challenges and workouts.

This year, to generate more excitement and involvement in the event we have expanded the event to include 5 different events, each of which has an opportunity to generate donations.

The five events include the a) PI GAMES, b) TRAIN THE TRAINER RAFFLE c) HIGH ROLLER EVENT, d) SILENT AUCTION, e) PRIZE RAFFLE.

Congratulations PI London 2012 Paralympians!

A big congrats to our PI Wheelchair Athletes who participated in the London 2012 Paralympics.

Canada Wheelchair Basketball captured the Gold medal alongside our PI Athletes Bo Hedges and Richard Peter in a dominating fashion.

PI Athlete and Canada's flag-bearer at the London 2012 Paralympics Garett Hickling, along side teammates Trevor Hirschfield, Ian Chan, Travis Murao, Fabien Lavoie and the rest of the WheelChair Rugby team won an exhilarating game against their archrivals Team USA which led to capturing the Silver medal against Australia at the finals.

Michelle Stilwell captured the gold medal in the 200m Sprint and a Silver medal in the 100m Sprint at the London 2012 Paralympics. She is also the only female paralympic athlete who has won gold in two different summer sporting events!

PI Athlete and Canada's number one ranking WheelChair tennis player, Joel Dembe, won a spot in the London 2012 Paralympics. Joel had a strong outing in both the singles and the doubles and we can only imagine that this experience will only improve his game and world rankings in the months to come.

Way to go guys! We couldn't be more proud!

Just Released!

Steve Ramsbottom's Wheelchair Strength Training Wheelchair Training: A Complete Strength and Conditioning Program for Men and Women with Spinal Cord Injuries, written by Steve Ramsbottom, owner of Performance Institute, British Columbia, Canada; Foreword by three-time Paralympic Gold Medalist Marni Abbott-Peter.

Wheelchair Training is a great resource for anyone in a wheelchair, and for trainers who work with wheelchair athletes. This book teaches you how to decrease and eliminate pain, how to increase joint stability, and how to assess and apply corrective exercises to guarantee peak athletic performance.

My clients tell me they're able to perform movements they haven't done in years," says Ramsbottom, who also works as a personal trainer to A-list actors such as Hugh Jackman and David Duchovny. "One client in specific was able to use his non-dominant arm to turn on a light switch, which he hadn't been able to do since his accident."

Ramsbottom's training program has been adopted by some of the best wheelchair athletes in the world. "But even if you're not a wheelchair athlete, you'll feel more joint stability from the improved strength of the supporting musculature, and pushing your chair will become a lot easier."
